Hypetrak recently sat down with Montreal-based electro funk duo Chromeo who recently released d a remix EP dedicated to the Business Casual cut “When the Night Falls.” The release is graced by its own tour which takes Dave 1 and P-Thugg throughout North America until November. The band opened up on the concept behind the Remix EP, their tour, their special designed keyboards and much more. Here are some excerpts from the conversation.

What was the idea behind the When the Curtain Falls EP?
It is a single deluxe release dedicated to the Business Casual cut which encompasses a collection of reworks. Remix EP is just a nicer word for single with more than just two songs. “When the Night Falls” is the fourth single from the album. We usually collect remixes of our songs, so we decided to make an official release out of it. We also do have a special rendition of the song with our friend Mayer Hawthorne covering it. Through this rather personal interpretation of the song we switch it up from a typical remix. Our main intention was to make the piece as tight and logical of a package as a possible. The logic behind that was to have a package to make sense as a remix and to make sense as the tour. So it is only right that Mayer did a remix for us and opens for us on tour. Same goes for Breakbot and the others. It all just makes sense to us.

What can the audience expect from your When the Night Falls tour compared to your previous live sets?
This should be the tightest one. We started touring for this album a year ago. We did countless shows but on this we will end up playing more Business Casual songs than ever. In addition, the show sounds even better regarding the engineering and acoustic aspects. The audience can expect more effects since we are working basically on bigger sound scales than we ever had. Obviously with every tour, we add more features to the stage setup. This means there will be more keyboards and guitars, simply aiming to offer the tightest tour we have ever done.
