New from the mysterious and avant-garde Belgian designer Raf Simons, who studied industrial design before getting into fashion, comes a blinged-out take on the traditional lace-up dress shoe. Previewed at the brand’s showroom in Paris, these kicks may first appear as nothing but standard, classy full-grain black leather oxfords – and that they are. However, Raf Simons showcases how one major design detail can completely reinvent an item by outlining the sole of this piece in a chunky gold chain, reminiscent of the early days of hip-hop. Although no price has been released as of yet, Mr. Simons’ kicks don’t tend to come cheap, so a hefty price tag can be expected.
