Although he’s been lauded for his womenswear, Marc Jacobs’ eponymous menswear line can be very hit-or-miss. Often shifting extremely from one aesthetic to another depending on the season, the label can run the gamut anywhere from minimalist neo-traditional to wild, print-splattered avant garde. Luckily for fashion fans, however, his 2012 spring/summer campaign seems to preview a very strong mix of the two. With more conservative items like knit cardigans with contrast piping and shrunken, gold-buttoned blazers mixing seamlessly with shiny waxed pants, nontraditional drawstring-detailed trousers, and (literally) gold-plated oxfords, the lookbook offered here is one of Jacobs’ strongest in recent memory.
