Seattle-based avant-rap outfit Shabazz Palaces offer their new album, Black Up, for an official preview. Once again, NPR provides the whole LP in its streamable entirety. Lead by former Digable Planets/Cherrywine member Ishmael Butler, the band avoided contact with media representatives, preferring their music to speak for itself. Due to complex lyricism and synth-infused discordant beats, this is no superficial release but requires deep listening. Black Up is out out June 28 on Sub Pop.
