'Songs for Japan' Generates $5 Million

It appears that the music industry is still capable of scoring large sale numbers. Good news arrive to us today as the compilation album Songs for Japan has sold over 500,000 copies, generating approximately $5 million in revenue to benefit the victims of the tsunami and earthquake that devastated Japan in March. The $5 million was given to The Japanese Red Cross Society.
The artists involved in the 38-song project, including Eminem, Cee Lo Green, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Eyed Peas, Elton John and many more, waived their royalties and proceeds for the project. You can still purchase your own copy here.
