For his first public interview, Odd Future’s Frank Ocean sat down with MTV News to discuss the overwhelmingly positive response he’s received for his debut project, nostalgia, ULTRA. The singer/songwriter, who signed a deal with Island Def Jam last year under the name Lonny Breaux, released the project on his Tumblr last month and has since received rave reviews for it from many media outlets, music celebrities and the public in general. If you’ve yet to download nostalgia, ULTRA., you can do so here. Also, Frank Ocean will be featured on Tyler, the Creator’s upcoming album, Goblin.

“The first thing that was shocking to me — as a person that grew up with the Internet and knowing how vicious people can be, especially when they are anonymous — early on, there was no hate. There was nothing negative. Everything I was thinking about from the marketing prospective was as far as how to start a fire, because you don’t expect a response, because who the f— am I? I’m just another guy putting out another collection of music and telling you to download this.”
