FUCT: 20 Years of Erik Brunetti

December 16, 2011HBTVby Chris Danforth6039 Views

Concisely recapping 20 years of Erik Brunetti’s involvement with FUCT is difficult; the artist and graffiti writer founded the label in 1990 and has since attracted many people with reinterpreted cultural themes and iconography and above all else a strong opinion. Filmmaker David Gallardo met with Brunetti on several occasions in around the unveiling of his retrospective show at Los Angeles’ Union. In doing so, Brunetti speaks about adhering to the principles that caused him to start the brand, staying relevant, and why is he is not overly eager to please consumers with his designs, but rather aims to educate them. The LA-based label maintains an intelligent and fresh perspective today thanks to Brunetti’s vision.

I just spent 2 hours going through his blog again and it reassured me there is more personality and dedication in that man then 99.9% of the industry. So filthy rich in subculture history, and it seems like he never threw away even a scrap of paper.

Watched this last night. absolutely amazing. Brunetti is a G through and through. Fuct has been one of my favorite streetwear brands since the 90s and this just proved to me why. He especially just hit the nail on the head when he said that many brands start with humble begininnings then compromise themselves when they get bigger to satisfy bigger audiences. Such an influential brand…much respect.

I wish everyone was like Erik.  I could not agree with him more – This industry really is filled with bullshit and fake ass cowards and back stabbers that will do anything for a buck, including cutting their own friends throats.
