Having premiered last night at FilmForum, El Sicario: Room 164 is a documentary that tells the story of “El Sicario,” a veteran hitman for the cartels in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, who has spent the better part of his life torturing those who wronged the narcotic juggernaut. With a $250,000 bounty on his head, director Gianfranco Rosi sits down with him as he’s shrouded in secrecy and heavily disguised. Much in the same vein as Cocaine Cowboys, this film looks to be as informative as it is provocative.
