Daughter - Candles (Daytrotter Session)

A month ago, 21-year-old British singing/songwriting darling Elena Tonra released The Wild Youth, her second official EP under the moniker Daughter and her first since signing with Communion Records – the label established by Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons. Sometime in the midst of preparing for the release, Tonra and her guitarist/boyfriend Igor Haefeli crossed the Atlantic Ocean to visit Rock Island, Illinois, home of recording studio The Horseshack. There, a touching four-song performance was captured on microphone for the studio’s acclaimed Daytrotter series, which has built up a reputation for shining light on some of the best upcoming and established indie acts out there. The excellent session—and an in-depth, intimate documentation of it—is now available over at the Daytrotter site, and below is one of the songs from it. This one, “Candles,” is from Daughter’s His Young Heart EP, which was released back in April.
