Upon first inspection of the forms that characterize the interior of Avignon-based boutique TheNextDoor, one may have a difficult time characterizing the shop. Vintage wooden shelving combined with contemporary furniture, and meshed with a flair for the futuristic all typify the unique layout of TheNextDoor. Originally a pharmacy furnished with antiques that now scatter across the store, the space was made with four different ‘ambiances’ in mind. The selection of labels carried in their prêt-à-porter catalogue also reflects the diversity of the shop’s appearance; Japanese labels such as COMME des GARCONS and Junya Watanabe fit right at home next to the simple heritage-inspired designs from A.P.C., Gitman Vintage, Levi’s Vintage Clothing and many others. Fortunately for those of us outside the south of France, TheNextDoor opened their online store last month.
