Ray-Ban for Brooks Brothers Sunglasses

The result of a collaboration between Brooks Brothers and Ray-Ban have just arrived in stores in the UK. The Ivy League-approved collection features the latter’s Wayfarer and Aviator styles with the former’s signature #BB1 stripe, more commonly seen on rep ties and on the inside of the temple arms. The BB#1 rep stripe, which is prominent in Brooks Brothers merchandise, especially in neckwear, was fashioned after British regimental or club ties. In the 1920s, Brooks Brothers Americanized this classic graphic in design by reversing the direction of the stripes. By the fifties, both the Wayfarers and the Brooks Brothers repp stripe tie became synonymous with the “Ivy League Look.” Sixty years later both brands have maintained their legendary status.
