Although it is yet to be officially confirmed, a recent stencil that appeared in London looks to be the work of revered street artist Banksy. The latest discovery captures a woman falling to the ground while clutching her shopping cart full of goods. Below on the lower right portion of the stretch, verbiage reads, “COPS AGAINST CUTS * The G=Good Cops.” Toting the artist’s usual subliminal overtones, the piece arrives at a time of year when consumerism has continually been questioned due to heightened economic overspending. Like most of Banksy’s work, this piece welcomes ample political and social discussion from both sides of the spectrum while prompting the unavoidable question: shop till you drop?
