Monocle Cafe @ Hankyu MEN'S TOKYO
London-based publication Monocle has recently opened its first ever café in Tokyo’s business

London-based publication Monocle has recently opened its first ever café in Tokyo’s business district of Yurakucho. The global affairs magazine believes that a good retail space can revitalize a neighborhood with its aesthetically pleasing interior and well-stocked deli. Located at the basement of the newly opened Hankyu MEN’S TOKYO, the Monocle Café has quickly become one of the main attractions of the department store. This combination retail, café and social playground has already become a popular spot in its own right where visitors can spend an afternoon browsing through the magazines, drink coffee, refresh and of course shop at the stylish Monocle shop.
The planning and operation of this social hub is entrusted to Tokyo’s own Transit General Office Inc., which is a company synonymous with producing irresistible retail spaces. Acclaimed barista Eiichi Kunitomo of Omotesando Koffee has been put in charge of the coffee and desserts. The menus are also easy on the eye as the kitchen offers international dishes such as Japanese curry, New York Reuben sandwiches and Danish toast Skagen.
