Aphex Twin conducts a 48-piece orchestra by remote control

Aphex Twin came up with the concept of controlling a 48-piece string section and a 24-string choir via remote control, after being commissioned by the European Culture Congress to write and compose a series of short pieces for the event in Poland. With the aid of midi controllers, multiple sets of headphones, and large visual cues, it remained to be seen how well the idea would work. After just one rehearsal on the day of the Congress, the performance went ahead. This was the result.
