Eastern Design Office – Tenanted Apartment House

Anna Nakamura and Taiyo Jinno of the collaborative architectural and design firm Easter Design Office, were assigned by TOYO-KAIHATSU Co., LTD to design this unique tenanted apartment house. The seven-room, four-floor building was planned in a way to take the shape of an acute triangular shape, very much similar to New York’s famed Flatiron Building. The building design, both surreal and inviting, is inspired by the castles narrated in Michael Ende fantasy stories, and serves as a stark contrast to the surrounding urban and industrial framework.
