Sennheiser EcoVinyl Project by Matthew Lim

Going green shouldn’t come at the cost of one’s auditory experience. Thanks to Matthew Lim, it won’t. Lim, a recent graduate of the Art Center College of Design, has introduced EcoVinyl, hoping to bring Sennheiser into the 21st century. Utilizing sustainable materials, Lim has crafted a turntable that boasts high-density fiberboard, which is often used for audio-system closure boxes because of its ability to carry sound reverb; cork for the turntable and earphone headband; and aluminum, which he CNC’d to produce a durable body, all for $350 USD. Sennheiser thus far has not committed to the project or indicated any interest, so its future remains to be seen. What do you think?
