2011 Nike MAG Presents Back for the Future Event Recap at The Montalban

September 9, 2011Styleby Eugene Kan114 Views

To conclude a huge day from Nike, the Oregon-based sports company hosted a mix of fans, industry personalities and influencers at Hollywood’s The Montalban theater. The event featured several different components hosted by Community star Joel McHale including a Back to the Future II DeLorean DMC-12, movie props on display, a musical performance from araabMUZIK, a special deleted scene, and appearances from Tinker Hatfield and Christopher Lloyd. However, the night of surprises was capped off by the auctioning of a signed ceramic reproduction (limited to 350 pieces) of the Nike MAG and the auctioning of the very first pair of Nike MAGs to be signed by Michael J. Fox. The current lot of Nike MAGs have hit eBay but only the pair auctioned tonight will feature a custom signature from Michael J. Fox.

Well too bad they didn’t introduce the self laces yet, but I saw some pretty kick ass sketches of the shoe to come in the future as the first ever self lacing shoe and i see a good future. So hopefully 4 more years left to go people.

I’m usually quite the cynical bastard, but this event clearly had all the best intentions for people with Parkinson’s. I hope they raise a boat load of cash. Much respect to MJ Fox.

word, your name is exactly what I’d do if I were to get my hands on a pair (pause)… guess the regular world will have to wait till 2015 (hopefully)
