@Thomas, the difference in price between Oak Street Bootmakers has absolutely nothing to do with quality, cost of leather, or how much the craftsmen are paid. It’s the same leather, just a different color, and the boots are made in the same town by many of the same people. The “crazy stitching” you refer to isn’t any different than the stitching on Quoddy or Oak Street. What makes it look like a Yuketen (and a little over-the-top for me) is the zig-zag cut of leather. It costs no more to do this – just the use of a different di.

No, I’m afraid there are absolutely no quality-related reasons for the higher price of Yuketen, but there is a very big reason. Yuketen’s pricing model is based around retail sales, and primarily overseas retail sales at that. Yuketen does not sell direct. Both Quoddy and Oak Street sell a great deal of their shoes direct, which allows them to price them much more affordably.

Ahhh I see what you mean.  Yeah I’ve wondered about that sometimes myself.  You could e-mail Context, blackbird, or epaulet to ask about it.

It’s probably got to do with the leather dying process (I’ve never seen any other brand do Loden Green leather), the construction (look at that crazy stitching), and of course how much the craftsmen are paid…

But then again I am in the dark just as much as you…

    Good day sir!

I was thinking about other made in US stuff like Oak Street Bootmakers which are hand made in Maine for half the price…..but these do look doper than my OSBs for sure.

Along with being made in USA the quality, craftsmanship, and longevity of these kinds of pieces are what appeal to people.  For lack of a better comparison it’s the same deal with fake J’s and authentics.  Could you get this look for a few bills less?  Probably… But could you get the same quality for a few bills less?  I don’t think so.

A lot of these “made in Maine” boots have very similar looks. Maybe they need to show more angles to tell me why I need to spend 2-3x more.

I just paíd $20.82 for an íPad 2.64GB and my boyfriend loves his Panasoníc Lumíx GF 1 Cámera that we got for $38.79 there arriving tomorrow by UP S.I will never pay such expensive retail príces in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LCD T V to my boss for $657 which only cost me $62.81 to buy.
Here is the website we use to get it all from, http://bit.ly/CentBid
