Unified by their Japanese heritage, Usugrow and Toshikazu recently debuted a new series of works at the Backwoods Gallery in Australia. Known for his intricate calligraphic styles and work within the Japanese punk and metal, Usugrow has seen his popularity rise substantially thanks to several collaborative efforts over the years. His counterpart Toshikazu Nozaka plied his trade as a professional skater in the early ’90s before stepping into the craft of Japanese tattooing. Since then, he has amassed almost two decades of experience. Nozaka’s work is an amalgamation of his background skating, tattoo art and punk iconography. The “Oriental Elements” show will remain open till July 31, 2011.
