Converse Addict Chuck Taylor All Star – The Anatomy

January 24, 2011Styleby Eugene Kan1166 Views

Upon the release of the Converse Addict collection, it left many people scratching their head as to what constitutes a Chuck Taylor All Star that ranges in the triple digits for retail price. Given the opportunity, we took a more in-depth look into the construction and characteristics of a sneaker that has endured generation upon generation of fans. The goal of the Addict line was to recreate some of the sensibilities of the Chuck Taylor circa 1960s with some new age improvements. A Vibram outsole provides a non-slip rubber with enhanced wear resistance. A Poron insert in the bed of the sneaker provides additional cushioning with a further Outlast liner for greater comfort relative to heat and temperature. Aside from that we also see a slightly different ’60s silhouette, upgraded stitching and branding on the heel dating back almost 50 years. These are the makings of the Converse Addict Chuck Taylor All Star.

Nike continues to exploit the dummy consumers who’ll pay hundreds of dollars for 40 dollars worth of technology. If Converse could sell these shoes (referring to these mentioned here with the “improvements” which are really how Converses were made BEFORE Nike took over the company) for $30-$60 before they were bought out by Nike, why cant Nike do the same? Their marketing department has most people fooled thinking they’re paying more for a better product when all they’ve done is increase profit margins on cheaper shoes, while raising the price on regular shoes to ridiculous figures.

Woe is fool who buys these.

I actually like the improvement. I will just wait until these drops here in the PI.If the conversion is ridiculous, I’ll just stick with the “hardcore” Chucks.

If it’s more expensive, it must be better.
