Famed music magazine Rolling Stone has decided to share its profound history with its readers. With a new site launching Monday, it is putting complete digital replicas of its 43-year archive online along with the latest editions of the magazine. However, this service will not be offered for free whereas the magazine’s revamped home page will remain mostly free. Information concerning news, slide shows of popular bands on tour won’t cost readers anything.

This move is also likely to cause some controversy within the industry as Rolling Stone will become one of the most prominent magazines that adds a “pay wall” to their site. The result on the publishing industry of this develeopments have yet to be seen.
