Dawned in a flower costume Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami awed onlookers with 30 foot renditions of his studio mascots Kaikai & Kiki for the Macy’s Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. The two Superflat characters serve as ambassadors of the Murakami brand established an art presence within a parade usually dominated by readily identifiable characters i.e. SpongeBob, Dora etc. Murakami now joins the ranks of Jeff Koons and Keith Haring as figures from the international art community to have their work featured in the celebrated event.
