American pop-artist KAWS recently embarked on a European adventure, displaying his latest collection of work at the Parisian Emmanuel Perrotin Gallery. Alongside a collection of SpongeBob and original character-centric paintings stand a 5ft Companion and two Accomplice vinyl statues in black and in pink. The exhibition represents shift in the artist’s solo exhibitions in that the focus appears to be veering toward the three-dimensional, and away from paintings and prints; this is of course only compounded by the recent display in Hong Kong. Fans of the print should not dismay however, since KAWS’s first print since 2007 has just landed at Art + Culture Editions. Stay tuned for a more in-depth look in the coming days.
