Takashi Murakami Exhibition @ The Chateau de Versailles Recap

Although the show isn’t set to officially open until September 14th, we can now offer a first look into the new exhibition from Japanese superflat artist Takashi Murakami. As extravagant as one would expect, the exhibition showcases a beautiful array of works, including paintings and sculptures in a cornucopia of vibrant colors. For those in town be sure to stop by as the exhibition will be running through December 12th, 2010, on display at the prestigious Chateau de Versailles, which marks a major development in the career of Takashi Murakami.

I think Murakami is more of an artist than Jeff Koons. Koons is a good conceptual artist with a fabulous marketing strategy. Most of what he does is not original. Murakami’s work is far more original than Koons. And, BTW, Koons had an exhibition in Versailles too…

Of course people will have their opinions (age of the opinion) but I personally feel you can’t knock this brilliant effort and work, eff a canvas, this man and his company is doing 3 dimensional shyt. And if he gets invited to the Versailles or however that went down, let it be. You never know whats going to happen or what kind of impact is going to be, let if flow and see how it unfolds.

aesthetically, his stuff is super interesting and energetic, that being said, not very original. jeff koons has been doin this type of shit since the early 90′s with his celebration series. same concept, its been done

Jeff Coon was invited in 2008 at Le Chateau Versailles and his proposition was incredibly funnier and well executed than this.

His pieces now showing at the Canadian National Art Gallery are both hilarious and incredible – notables were two life-size hentai sculptures and a sculpture of the bear on Kanye’s Graduation album.
