Sean Cliver for Supreme 2010 Summer Collection

Following the previous collaboration back in 2008, Supreme will release two skateboards and two t-shirts with original artwork by skateboard artist Sean Cliver for its Summer collection. Having spent a lot of time at Powell Peralta, Cliver re-shaped the identities of World Industries, 101, Birdhouse and Hook-Ups. Sean Cliver has also assembled what is undoubtedly the most comprehensive visual overviews of skateboards in print, the “Disposable” series. The full collection will be available in-store and online from June 10th, while Japan will see a release on June 12th.

    Supreme must have been “losing that aura” for some time (I wouldn’t know though, because I’ve never shopped there), insomuch as, this is a continuation of the Cliver decks from a couple of years ago. These narrative-style art decks are reminiscent of the early 101 graphics–especially the Koston and McNatt’s boards from ’92. This is sort of relevant to skateboarding (to some of the older guys, at least) since that style of hand-drawn art has been replaced with quicker and cheaper Illustrator aided designs.

    The dummies at Hypebeast lumped those other shirts with Cliver’s “two t-shirts”–at least they cut and pasted the press release correctly.
