Los Angeles-based Illustrator Hannah Stouffer recently created a production dubbed “Obsessive Combustion”, based off an illustration which translated into a full-scale campaign for Vans. “Obsessive Combustion” is a re-creation of “Black Roses Tell a Story”, Stouffer’s illustrative portrayal of the struggles with change and desire that we all endure, as well as her rendition of our own imminent contrasts with the forces that we create.

Pigment, smoke, fireworks, and confetti all came together with 20 of Stouffer’s closest friends, in a Los Angeles rooftop. They were brought together to partake in documenting the transformation of an illustration into a real life happening, developing a perfect representation of the iconic piece of art, “Black Roses Tell a Story”. Hannah Stouffer’s limited edition Vans designs are now available in Vans accounts throughout the world, including here, while the video of this campaign is offered below.
