The Electro Wars Final Trailer

March 15, 2010Uncategorizedby Staff11 Views

It is unquestionable that the Electro genre has reached a broader American audience in the last two years. The Electro Wars is determined to document the scene and its participants, show the inner workings of the genre and what it will eventually evolve into. The notion to document this genre was conceived in 2008 after reading a blog post with the same title “Electro Wars” featured on the Hipster Runoff. The post was a sarcastic outlook on electro/house artists in the United States and Europe, and their impact on mainstream music here in the United States. The filmmaker found a substantial concept within the snarky commentary and decided to assemble these “electro soldiers”. It seems that every other day a new remix is popping up on the blogosphere, how does this affect marketing for other independent artists? What will eventually happen when all these budding producers grab a hold of a Pro Tools tutorial and develop their own remixes week in and week out? Themes of this nature are explored in the film.

Oh no dude I’m not only attacking the movie but just the scene and genre in general. I stopped caring for most of the Electronic scene (I thank the Arab Parrot) and nowadays just download songs from artists I know 70% of the time won’t disappoint. I live in L.A and this whole scene is ridiculous. Also at some point the blogs helped revive and start a new electronic movement but it’s 2010 and it seems like so many people are jumping on the “Electro” bandwagon that it has gotten lame pretty quick. I don’t even really consider myself a “hip hop head”, who cries over the new artists because if anything I co-sign the hell out of many up and coming artists who deserve to be on the radio and many “Pitchfork” indie ARTISTS too. I grew up in a lot of places so I had the time to hear a variety of music. Damn, I know this is your documentary and all but you seem like you got offended as if I was talking about your kid but your actually responding back to my comment which didn’t really need your feedback and you shouldn’t even care about mine because a bunch of other people feel the same. I can care less if you didn’t understand my last paragraph either because it wasn’t even meant to be a summary.

    Turd polishing at its finest.

How about we let this whole “movement” marinate and maybe gain some perspective on its importance by letting some time pass before we praise LMFAO as having some sort of real cultural importance. This latest wave didnt invent electro…head back to early eighties Chicago House or Detroit shit, Giorgio Moroder, Eno, Mantronix, Jungle Brothers. This stuff had been happening for decades before Aoki got on a stage and sang along to a Rage Against the Machine record.

nice effort. but most of the musicians in this trailer are just the late comers (band wagon hitch hikers?) aside from the few who were really playing electro since this trend started.

    totally agree with WHY?

SAV – you have to calm down and try to read maybe slower?

    peace

I agree with you why, except with one point…

I think there’s so much damn talent emerging all the time, it’s ridiculous. it seems like every week I find a new artist that really amazes me. but yes there is a ton of generic shit coming out every day.

why? — clever btw. I’m not really sure I follow your logic. First off, if you’re going to attack the film please do it in a coherent and sensical manner. I felt like I was deciphering the Da Vinci code, painful brah. Let me get this straight, you don’t respect any of the artists in the film unless they’re Simian Mobile Disco, Daft Punk or the Ed Banger Crew and other groups you forgot – what does this tell me, two things. 1. You obviously have no investment in the music since you can’t manage to recollect the names of the artists you “care about”. 2. You probably know nothing about Electronic music. Let me guess you’re a disheartened Hip-Hop head? I know you’re kind, you reject any form of change because you refuse to let go of your past. Electronic music is invading new genres and this bothers you. I understand, but it’s not fair to call it “shitty” music. Granted, it is your opinion and your entitled to it, but have some grace when giving constructive criticism. I will agree with you on one thing, blogs helped revive electronic music but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

You’re contradicting yourself by saying you’ll save the drugs and ecstasy for Justice (btw, they’re in the film) because Justice came and went, so why do you respect them over guys like Aoki and LMFAO who continue to evolve the music in their own style? I don’t mind if you hate, but do it with class and wit. What you wrote is weightless and totally ignorant.

I just don’t care about groups not named SMD, Daft Punk, most of the Ed Banger crew, and probably 2 or 3 other groups I forgot. Pitbull, LMFAO and 3oh!3? Get the fuck outta here. Yeah Hip Hop isn’t the way it used to be but most of this Electronic music nowadays isn’t that great either. If I was Kanye I would be mad too if LMFAO tried using my shit. The blogs helped bring back electronic music and the blogs and radio helped so many mediocre producers and dj’s get famous for mixing and making “from your FUCKING bedroom” shitty music.

“A slower tempo song doesn’t have that much of a place at a party”. This just depends on the type of party. That LMFAO dude knew what he was talking about but still taking shots and on drugs while at a club with Aoki or some other lame playing shitty music at an L.A club? No thanks. I’ll save the ecstasy for Justice or the other groups I mentioned who deserve my money. If this came out back in 2007 or 2008 I would care but it’s 2010. Shit even streetwear brands are all grown up and releasing mature and sophisticated stuff. That’s how I want my new music plus innovation and creativity.
