Although it’s been nearly a year since his last solo show at Honor Fraser, KAWS has been busy creating new works for the upcoming showcase later this month at the Galería Javier López, Spain. The exhibition is set to open on February 17th and will conclude on March 31st. Here we have only a small taste on what to be expected at this much-anticipated show.

Actually I think that KAWS is a pretty good artist from the technical standpoint that Mr Marque mentions. Did you see the New Order cover he did? It shows an incredible asthetic awarness. Also, he’s not really a graf artist because he started his career with a grant from some art body to do art.

KAWS’ pieces garnered attention due to a mainstream trend that was supplemented by influential “first time” collectors. who knew that putting Xs on the eyes of popular cartoon characters would hit it big? i believe KAWS is still a long way from “high art” standards and i have a feeling that five to ten years down the road… he might be just a footnote or an after thought in the art world. i hope i am wrong.
