it took place in the 80′s, and YES, the kids DID care about RACE and POLITICS, which is pretty much the backbone of the film (besides the young stars attempts at finding his own identity). Pakistani conflict with White England Purists, as well as an anti-governemt attitude towards the war England was currently in were major parts of the story. And although the movie has a wicked soundtrack, it is hardly about MUSIC. Do some research or watch the film AT LEAST.

The film “This is England” is actually set in 1983 during the Skinhead revival and most Skinheads were friends with “Mods” because of each subcultures similar interest in Ska Music
