polaroid instant film camera relaunch Polaroid Instant Film Camera Re launched

Following the widely publicized death of Polaroid film, it appears as the brand (alongside the recent appointing of Lady Gaga as creative director) will re-visit its iconic range of instant film cameras. With a ressurgence in film as of late, perhaps Polaroid will once again re-create the realm of instant film photography. The cameras will take on a retro aesthetic with a reliance on Polaroid 1000 film. A release date is slated for later this year with cameras set below the $100 USD mark.

Supported by a strategic relationship with Summit Global Group, a longtime Polaroid partner, and The Impossible Project, the manufacturer of classic film for Polaroid film cameras, Polaroid will offer a completely redesigned, modern version of the Polaroid OneStep camera, the PIC 1000. The PIC 1000 will be available in a range of fun colors and use classic Polaroid Color 600 Instant Film to produce the brand’s classic white border instant pictures. The Polaroid Color 600 Instant Film will work with both classic and new Polaroid cameras and will be offered in packs of 10 pictures. The new classic PIC 1000 camera and instant color film will be available at national retailers in 2010. -Polaroid Press Release

Hey nate. The surgery for your stick removal should be soon.

    Seriously, get over yourself.

I’d take some nudes of gaga with that

as far as im concerned this could ruin the polaroid image; what has been preserved and worshipped as a beautiful and alternative approach to photography, is now going to be destroyed, abused and placed into the greasy hands of todays people .
lady gaga is in no way an artistic individual, but actually a woman who tries to be so alternative she crosses over into a caricature of herself, perhaps to counter-balance the lack of originality or thought in her ‘music’? Or, possibly, to distract us from a very un-inspired, un-articulate money-hungry whore? In summary if the polaroids get into the hands of the people who buy her records, then this could infact be the end of polaroids iconic film, my only saving grace is that polaroid no longer have the factories to produce thier instant film

Oh my gosh. I remember polaroid being the coolest camera to me, and now its redesigned by lady gaga. I love lady gaga, and I actually think she IS very original and she is her own person. She is really artistic and she is responsible for bringing this amazing camera back. I love it. And I think its genius.

can you guys just appreciate a clean well-designed aesthetic? black + wood grain = super -clean. -khanscept.

You know, it’s amazing no one has had the simple forsight to bring the camera back with a digital screen to see your image and the ability to save it to disc for later, while keeping the film action to give someone a snapshot.
Brilliant! My idea, if it was too simple for you who make Poloroids..
    Now go build it.

how elitist can some of you be? appreciate the fact that now there will be polaroid film available at reasonable prices. no need to go steal whatever convenient store has left in stock anymore.

@finesse Under $100 I think, or somewhere around that mark…

I’m excited, but they don’t look nearly as awesome as they used to, and….Lady Gaga? Really? Why? She’s not new or original or anything else. She’s a freak who looks like a man and dresses awkwardly. She can’t sing. And she’s just like very pop artist out there, she just wears awkward things.

Is that a joke, Lady Gaga, she is such a tool. Why not Peaches or Misss Kitten, then we could actually see something original, not that the original needed to be updated, but at least something interesting.

im concerned about the new prices on 600 films cause i already have a classic polaroid instant camera that uses it, but the film is just too costly at the moment. i just hope i can take advantage of the films if polaroid decides to reproduce them. turn that $18 for 10 shots into $10 for 10 shots.

    ^ no you dont.

They should have re-produced the SLR-680, or one of their other Sonar Auto-Focus models. What they’re putting out is just a crappy point + shoot that will make blurry pictures for 70% of the people that buy it.

    ^^^ Currently a pack of 600 film is around $18 a pack or about $2 a shot.

@finesse the price of the new film will be very close to the price of film on polapremium.com right now.

I feel like it seems a little fake when they re-design an already historic and retro camera in order to make it seem “retro” again. Plus this new style seems to have lost many of the iconic stylistic visual cues from the older versions.

Word now these fools can have matching cameras with their dunks.

the new pic 1000′s are going to use polaroid 600 films, not 1000 films. the post made a mistake.
also, does anyone know the price range of the film cost?

  19. Posted by:Tobomo on January 13, 2010 at 5:50 am

What a shame, the iconic range of instant film cameras already were retro, now they’re going to be whored out as “Retro” with that faux wood? Lame.
