adidas Jabulani Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Ball

January 5, 2010Uncategorizedby Staff500 Views

Yesterday adidas and FIFA unveiled its Jabulani ball, the Official Match Ball for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Comprising only eight, completely new, thermally bonded 3-D panels, which for the first time are spherically moulded, the Jabulani is perfectly round and even more accurate than any ball ever before. The newly developed “Grip’n’Groove” profile provides the best players in the world with a ball allowing an exceptionally stable flight and perfect grip under all conditions.

The name Jabulani originates from the Bantu language isiZulu, one of the eleven official languages of the Republic of South Africa, which is spoken by almost 25% of the population. Literally translated, “Jabulani” means “to celebrate”. The design features eleven different colors representing the eleventh adidas World Cup ball. These 11 colors also represent the 11 players in every team, the 11 official languages of South Africa and the 11 South African tribes that make the country one of the most ethnologically diverse countries on the African continent. The colorful design brings together the tremendous diversity of the country in harmonious unity. Four triangle-shaped design elements on a white background lend the ball a unique appearance in African spirit.

The adidas Jabulani is now available at retailers worldwide, including the adidas webstore.

ronaldo’s freekicks are gonna go over everytime. All the players complain about the ball being way too light. i hope the US will at least get out of their group. My money is on Spain winning it all though

Can’t wait for the world cup either… but I think a smaller country should make a difference other than the same countries always going to the final. Besides that, the jabulani ball is sick!

these balls were made with the goalkeepers in mind rather than the strikers hence the groves for better grip. There wasn’t much more they could due in terms of producing straighter flight after the previous balls….
