With Rockport bridging the chasm separating sport utility and classic casual forms, Bodega sought the perfect model to embody this fusion of a timeless aesthetic and athletic function. Selected for its tested performance and the style it represents, Bodega saw the possibility to reinterpret the Bayshore model and close this divide. Keeping Rockport’s quest for the perfect shoe in the foreground of the design, added subtle features to compliment the traditional hand-sewn construction of the Bayshore. Starting with the moccasin constructed toe, the leather forms a hammock to cradle the fore foot. The model’s custom gusseted tongue was tested with different lasts until the best fit was found. Materials were chosen for durability as well as styling. Subtle dual branding signifies the collaborative efforts of the two design teams.
Re-imagining the traditional buttoned-up character of Bostonians, the city shoe focuses on style drawing from the hues of winter. A Melton wool collar lined with plaid flannel insulates and contrasts the waterproof premium leathers used in the rest of the model’s uppers. Raw leather lacing traditional of boat shoes was used and offset by reinforced anodized metal eyelets. The leather in the uppers were chosen for texture and waterproofing.
