jeffstaple 1-2-1 Live with Marc Ecko

by L. Ruano, December 1, 2009

As part of the Imprint Culture Lab 2009 this past September, STPL founder jeffstaple conducted a captivating live version his 1-2-1 session with Marc Ecko, who obviously needs no introduction. Amongst other topics, Marc speaks of his upbringing in New Jersey, financial woes, and offers valuable advice for young entrepreneurs. Definitely an insightful piece with one of the more influential urban entrepreneurs of our generation.

I don’t understand how he can come up with a magazine with good fashion. But not have it in his stores.

The only people who wear Ecko are the people who think fashion(popular clothing) is style. And yeah sure that’s alot of people but in the end even big companies like Ecko fail, not just because of the debt he’s taken on but because he, like most so fashion entrpreneurs don’t understand that to truly last in fashion IS to create a STYLE. If fashion is music+Echo=Britney Spears. Shit you probably hate but can’t seem to avoid.

Two guys that are completely clueless on what’s going on in their market. Its funny because they are both the “SAME” person. If this was 1999 they would both be mega Billionaire’s but since they are both so stubborn to change/challenge the way they think they’re both hurting for cash.
