adidas Originals 2010 Spring/Summer Star Wars Collection – A Closer Look

Following up our initial preview in November, here’s a closer look in the upcoming Star Wars capsule collection from adidas Originals. Although some models go all out with the classic graphics and color schemes, others remain a bit tamer, while all still doing an excellent job of translating the iconic film franchise into a wearable collection of footwear and apparel. Shown below are various adidas models featuring inspiration from key Star Wars characters, including Yoda, Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia, amongst others.

The X-Wing sambas are awesome! You can tell that the adidas designers are huge Star Wars fans because the details they chose to integrate are great nods to the source material – Darth’s leatherette stitching, Leia’s gold slivers, Biggs’ Red Three mark by the X-Wing heel, the tie-fighter’s panels by the cuff, the AT-AT’s red eye (squint and you’ll see how it reveals), the Falcon’s rusted panels, Yoda’s frayed robe fabric, and even the trooper’s raised white panels & helmet grill – making these kicks real treats for fans, as well as great art tributes to the films.

Now all we have left to wait for are brown Chewie kicks with a bushy cuff, some red patent Imperial Guard ones, and a black & gold tainted C-3P0 pair. Series II, perhaps? (please leave the tan nubuck Jar-Jars at the door…)
