Finding itself smack dab in the center of streetwear via the mid-2000s, XLarge offer up a closer look into its Winter Collection for 2009. Steering clear of the new found adoration for sophisticated contemporary styles by most streetwear brands, XLarge revert to its classic form with a medley of vibrant colors, baggy cuts, and wild pattern choices, featured on graphic tees, knits, accessories, and denim. The collection will certainly draw mixed reviews, but is now available for your viewing below.

XLarge came out before BAPE but BAPE had the ape camo out first…just sayin’

LEARNYOSHHllllllTTT, X-Large was co-founded by one of the Beastie Boys (Mike D to be exact) and the Beasties first LP went platinum in 1987, so you can’t say that the X-Large brand was out before the Beasties were even popular.

All this information is available at your fingertips and yet no one really knows a damn thing except us OGs.

Sake1….xlarge was before any of these brands
This brand was out even before the beasty boys were even popular.
So they cant really copy much of any of the brands you state
except the concept of the this line that came out…
the whole brand itself, was before them all…

Xlarge and their gorilla established 1991 A Bathing Ape 1994. Ice Cube used to be covered in Xlarge. Xlarge deals with some artist from Disneys Bloc28 and Slick.

They were doing alright until they came out with this collection.

It’s apparent with these comments when peolpe jumped into the streetwear mix… Ben Davis preceded X-Large (Beastie Boys label) which preceded Nigo/A Bathing Ape, which preceded silliness and wackness. I agree with the folks that this XL release reflects the most tired aspects of streetwear in recent seasons (buffalo plaid, disney, color-camo, mega-logos), but let’s get our who-inspired-who timelines straight. XL was relevant when designer logo bites were the deal, but now that that day has come and gone they should just stick with the gorilla and keep it simple. —cheers//dom

x large been arouind longer than bape. they been around since 1991 and bape since 1993. but i would’nt expect you posing ass losers to know that. to busy listening to whack rappers and rocking bootleg bapes.

Before you spout that “They copying BAPE shit” Look up your brands to see who was there first.

SIGH… look im not trying to say this shit looks good or not. but for real please do some research kids. Xlarge was huge and had the same style back in the 90’s when nigo was still hatching bape out of his ass.

Again, i dont think this stuff looks good, but to say its a bape rip is to say that freshjive is a rip of the hundreds. One influenced the other.

damn look at big homeboy now rockin the twentieth disney colab of 09 pull the dildy out you bitch model.

can somebody please make an attempt to help me understand what this brand is about. Other than it appearing to be a carbon copy of bathing ape, now they’re starting to use the tiger like ed hardy, and disney characters (hundreds, nbhd, caked out, etc. )??? I realize no ideas are TOTALLY original in fashion, because almost everythings been done, but this just screams imitation to me. Maybe someone out there can justify the brand and its position in the market place because I am dying to know!!! I mean why the hell would you spend your money on an imitation, when you can get BAPE merchandise for nearly the same price? thanx.

  22. Posted by: b_nj_m_n on November 15, 2009 at 9:41 pm

BAPE is the reminiscent of XLarge…… Nigo’s (Bape) inspiration was founded by XLarge’s camo gorilla concept!
