hm 2010 spring collection 1 H&M 2010 Spring/Summer Collection

Having seen likes of drop-crotch pants and man-skirts from the higher and more avant-garde spectrums of fashion over the past few seasons, look for it to go more mainstream as H&M unveil their 2010 spring collection. Just as you’d expect from a well-rounded brand like H&M, the bolder pieces are also met with some more traditional styles which should have a bit more mass appeal.

Some people are unable to look over their own tidy fence. Breaking some rules are wonderful, but especially men get struck in their dusty pants-style.
H&M finally goes a little stept forward, out of typically mens stereotyped uniform-style. Reading some of those strange comments I must say that we are on a way backwards, missing any little touch of creativity, innovation.
I think most men are only not encouraged enough, or shall I say just cowards? They are talking about things they never tried, seeing a picture, that’s all. But clothes looks different at each body-style and men, too.
What I want to see that men can get out of their little world of dressing.

Here’s how it is. There was a time when women could not wear pants. Now women can wear any kind of clothing they want. Both men and women wear jeans. Yet, jeans are styled and cut in a certain way for women, and in a different way for men. There is no reason that a skirt has to be a female garment. They can be designed in feminine or masculine ways. I guess some of you people can’t be bothered to think outside of your apparently tiny realities, but we are talking about fabric draped over bodies.

Is it really so incredibly earth-shattering whether or not a garment is sewn through the middle or not? A male wearing something that is not sewn in two should be “spranked” and beaten or whatever else? Do you realize that the Scottish warriors would turn you into minced meat, all while wearing a garment that wasn’t sewn together in the middle? Your minds must be terribly small to make such a monumental issue out of something as insignificant as whether or not a piece of clothing is bifurcated.

Men should give a try to wearing something on bottom that isn’t two-legged. Pants make more sense for girls, who have nothing between their legs. Guys are supposed to wear nothing but pants in western culture, which cut up into the crotch. It seems like skirted garments make more sense for men. And what about all these sports guys who walk around in the baggy slippery shiny shorts that seem fancier than girl’s dresses? The crotch on those things are so low, they might as well just well cut out the tiny piece separating the leg holes and have it be a skirt. More freedom of movement.

You guys need to either evolve your minds past “if it’s different I’m gonna beat it up”, or go crawl back into a cave somewhere and die off like the rest of the dinosaurs.

those blue chinos are another level and the waistcoat. Actually I like that whole look. I can’t wait for this collection.

I like the skirt. Wish more guys had the guts to wear them or kilts. What’s he wearing with that skirt, knee high boots?

  5. Posted by:strikemaster on November 26, 2009 at 2:49 pm

I think idea of men’s skirts is good for our health and comfort. I don’t know how about rest of this collection, but I hope men’s skirts will catch on.

Men in harem pants, absolutely a hit! It’s time for men to dare more! Harem pants are super comfy and I think deep inside men are jealous at us women and actually are longing for harem pants. Similar pants have been worn by men around the world for centuries. Nothing strange with that.

I’m really baffled only like three people noticed the use of a skirt / blouse in this collection.

    perfect for crossdressers!

  11. Posted by:KV on November 23, 2009 at 1:10 am

Man, you guys really, really don’t get it.
After working for H&M for an extended period of time, the collections (especially designer) are intended to be piece by piece, not take as a whole. Fail for the whole bunch of you.

and hypebeast forgot to mention that this is the line designed by tyler riggs for H&M not the actual 2010 full collection

  16. Posted by:alex g on November 22, 2009 at 2:58 pm

first of all they’re called drop crotch or harem pants and they’ve been around for a while. im actually happy that h&m is stepping up to the avant garde stuff, and all you uptown people dont have to worry about “getting Spanked” because the usual garbage will be brought out to make all you folks happy

  17. Posted by:LV on November 21, 2009 at 10:31 pm

Yes… i cant wait… the pieces need to be separated but non the less hot …. too bad we all know what quality H&M gives you but i guess u get what you pay for….

  18. Posted by:dnvn on November 21, 2009 at 9:28 pm

i love H&M but damn…idk what they were thinking with this lineup.

  19. Posted by:kseo on November 21, 2009 at 8:24 pm

    note: “avant-garde”

  20. Posted by:decs on November 21, 2009 at 11:33 am

PS. I am tired of seeing alot of the same ol stuff as well. Doesnt mean this collection is good though. H&M is this decades Guess. Copy the trends, make it cheap.

  21. Posted by:decs on November 21, 2009 at 11:30 am

haterhater, ivybetty, initial drew..u guys are clownin on people for being on hypebeast and wearing fitteds and tees. you are on hypebeast and you are the clowns dressing yourselves from articles and “latest trends”. Just be yourself. I dont wear fitteds but I do choose to dress like a man no matter what some article tells me to do. THOSE ARE HAMMER PANTS AND THATS A SKIRT. you probly clowned on hammer now they are cool cus NY Times and Damir Doma says so? Trendy, will be out by next year then you can jump on whatever next years article says. Basic design principle..”Form follows function”..I dont see the function in wearing a cardigan, scarf, and shorts. Do you? Its either cold or not.

  22. Posted by:C-Stylez on November 21, 2009 at 10:57 am

People seem to be getting things twisted. People who wear streetwear do so because they dont want to look like someone who just stepped off a catwalk. It’s counter culture coming from hip-hop and skating etc.
No one is under the illusion that its “high fashion” it’s just stuff they wear on a day to day basis. . . to look good and more importantly feel good.

So even if some high brow fashion critic proclaims that there is blurring between the sexes your still not going to catch many guys in a skirt – because it’s just not practical in the street!

So jeans, fitteds and fresh sneaks will always have a place… as will gender bending catwalk fashion crap.

    PEACE!

  23. Posted by:alex on November 21, 2009 at 6:53 am

wayyy too much going on H&M, looks cluttered

gay…. gay as it gets…. does stylish equal gay now days????

  27. Posted by:Bakla Beastie on November 21, 2009 at 12:44 am

These pieces are terrific!! AS SEPARATES. The stylist may not have been thinking straight for this shoot, mixing “avant-garde” fashion and mainstream don’t often go hand in hand. These pieces word work terrifically if styled nicely. And then there’s always that other complaint: H&M fabric quality.

  28. Posted by:J.C. on November 20, 2009 at 11:53 pm

kicks kill skirts and mandles anyday of the week, not saying shits ugly but…this shit is retarted, only ppl downtown wear this shit lmao uptown ull get fucking SPANKED wearing this shit, niggas will egg u,so yea Ill stay with the kicks,I have an open mind though, just not gonna wear this “new fashion”with skirts, lolllll,I have dignity left in me man

  29. Posted by:Mega on November 20, 2009 at 11:32 pm

I remember when skinny jeans were considered feminine a few years back now all of you clones rock them and look like girls. Stop following trends and dress how you want to dress. We all have the same skin underneath the clothes anyway.

  30. Posted by:spaceboy on November 20, 2009 at 9:02 pm

in the land of rand mcnally, hamburgers eat people and men wear skirts

  31. Posted by:Ren on November 20, 2009 at 8:57 pm

While I know and accept that high-fashion has moved to accept dropped crotch pants, and to a lesser degree, man-skirts, this collection still sucks. It’s not the concepts, it’s just that there aren’t really any pieces that I feel are worth buying.

  32. Posted by:initialdrew on November 20, 2009 at 8:10 pm

The idiots in here that think this is whack are the look-a-likes with their fitted, sneakers thinking those were fashion. I am tire of the cookie cutter looks everytime I am in stussy, goodfoot or livestock

  33. Posted by:jack on November 20, 2009 at 7:19 pm

some mandals wtf thats why you cannot hop on h&m like that i go there sometimes but looks like he got some out the womens section

  34. Posted by:G on November 20, 2009 at 6:58 pm

see all the influences but they seem to have put them all together in one confused collection, there will b some great pieces but won’t b wearing any of these outfits!!

  35. Posted by:ivybetty.com on November 20, 2009 at 6:16 pm

props to haterhater for the ny times article shout out. instead of just H & M being a place where you get basic simple pieces, they are delving into the realm of fashion. this is more fashion than it is “dope a** pieces man”. the lines between genders are truly being blurred now and it’s only a matter of time before you either accept the fact (not saying you have to dress that way) that clothing may be headed that way, or stay this closed minded person being stubborn only wearing fitteds, tees, and fresh kicks.

  36. Posted by:honestROB on November 20, 2009 at 6:14 pm

Seems like H&M should have hired a real stylist to style this shoot rather than one of those style/designer/model/artists/bloggers. This is what happens when you take a chance on someone who thinks they “know fashion”. The pieces aren’t that bad, and remember its just H&M and the fact that H&M is featured on this site is pretty ludicrous and over-the-top um lets try to write about brands and styles that are relevant ( aside from graphic tee’s) . Am I on hypebeast or am I on whatnottowear.com

  37. Posted by:dedleg on November 20, 2009 at 5:51 pm

Of course, I’m included in that as well since I read this blog. But it’s never to late to open your eyes!

  38. Posted by:dedleg on November 20, 2009 at 5:51 pm

While this is in line with current high fashion… high fashion is fucking full of retarded, over the top shit that makes you look like a fucking goon if you wear it anywhere outside of a runway.

Burn all your clothes – this is all a bunch of bullshit. Following streetwear is just as bad.

  39. Posted by:manpanties on November 20, 2009 at 5:21 pm

These looks will not be good for most if not all “regular” sized males.

  40. Posted by:manpanties on November 20, 2009 at 5:20 pm

    Really.. fem-males

  41. Posted by:The $tatus Faction on November 20, 2009 at 4:07 pm

Once The Hundreds and Supreme start making man-skirts- you HyperBeast fiends will be all over it!!! Hahahhahahahhahah ducks in a row…

  42. Posted by:HaterHater on November 20, 2009 at 4:00 pm

All you retards need to stop looking at Hypebeast and realize that this is fashion now. Sorry its not ALIFE, and you don’t have to buy a skirt to appreciate its place in the fashion world. Now more than ever the lines between male and female clothing are blurred…NY Times Style section COVER ARTICLE. It may be poorly made, but the designs are on point.

  51. Posted by:cutdrop.com on November 20, 2009 at 10:21 am

  52. Posted by:roy on November 20, 2009 at 9:18 am

Ludicrous, over-the-top and completely irrelevant. I never they could be that out-of-touch.

  53. Posted by:Gordy McCann. on November 20, 2009 at 7:37 am

Someone in the designteam should get fired for this crap! And the stylist aswell….
