another line built on hype with out the foundation of good design. somehow its great you’re hooriding on the huf-set success. but c’mon, IMO, its all same the same ol’ shit. if the store looks empty its not because its high end, it reflects the design of the line.

if you’re wondering why the product is overpriced, its because they gotta add hype tax to afford rent downtown.

some of you lame haters put so much effort into spreading negativity its incredible.

black scale, keep running the world.

cant say fuck the haters. without the haters there would be no such thing as success personal opinions can be accepted easily and really your negative comments isnt really doing anything to spoil megas dreams and decisions all the negativity you haters are speaking is just showing how jealous you guys are maybe a few of you people is another brand trying to use hypebeast.com comments to take out all the anger you guys have built inside since your brand hasnt been able to make wise decisions to rise to black scales level or maybe you guys are just hypebeast thats down with the colorful tiny pants movement.. who knows? maybe you haters should think before you comment it is embarrassing to hate on something so successful where youre probably a nobody inlife but if you’re comfortable with where you’re at in life which is behind your laptop on your free time on hypebeast.com steady attacking successful brands then so be it you’re nothing better than a 13 year old criticizing how uncool it is that you have a curfew. may god bless you all hope you guys find a life to use your time wisely.

im on here from time to time to check out how you kids hate its amazing how so many people waste their time of life on the net hope this enlightens some of you kids to grow up some day..

actually 50 cent originated that line dumbass…..”Em told me go ahead switch the style up, and if they hate then let em hate and watch the money pile up.” Difference is, people actually like 50 cent’s style. hahahahaha love 2 hate!!! lets keep it goin!!!!

lol @ the fake sake1 a.k.a. mega and friends. ive already staked my claim here in los angeles and globally. nice try tho. TKO
notice how it’s always the same people defending this brand?
and who the hell said anything about visual merchandising? having 1 of each garment out and personable sales associates in 2009 is a standard……i think everyone knows that. That doesn’t mean you open up a 1500+ sq ft. store with a Whopping 10 tshirts. i don’t need to pay mega’s bills to understand a sustainable business model, thank you. its obviously too late to for black scale to turn back now. all i can say is good luck.

Shop looks hella plain, this is just another brand to add to the overly saturated streetwear market. Half of their line looks like rips from the OG Crooks & Castles Illuminati line.

Its funny to see the clowns buying his varsity jacket for $168, hope he at least gave em some lube, cause that shit ain’t worth $168 that’s for damn sure.

all you haters are good for the fire.

  13. Posted by: flailing legs on November 17, 2009 at 12:04 am

    @A.A:
High end retailers? Dude, high end retailers dont stock new eras and tshirts. High end retailers steam or press their denim so the creases from being folded dont show. (ESPECIALLY when they know that shit is going to be photographed). High end retailers dont sell screen printed wifebeaters and try to claim “high end”.

I commend anyone going out on a limb to open up shop, particularly in this economy when you have to move $50 tshirts to get by. But I’m also ready to distribute the appropriate amount of hate juice when I see it being done so terribly wrong.

  14. Posted by: mega on November 16, 2009 at 10:13 pm

We also have a restaurant coming and we have 3 sandwiches and 3 types of soda. Hope it will work out too. Hate is good. Without hate the world would be boring. I criticize too so it’s dope that you have a voice, well typing skills at least.

  15. Posted by: A.A on November 16, 2009 at 8:01 pm

Haters are the best motivators, so pursue your art and passion as you see best. To those that don’t understand the concept, have you ever been to a high-end retailer? Or heard of back stock? The minimal visual merchandising is presented as an art gallery so you can appreciate each piece for what it is. Not every size needs to be on the floor at the same! This idea allows for the focus to be on customer service and one-on-one selling, a concept that is pushed in high-end retail sales. As a former VP of Merchandising, I have the to experience and knowledge to speak on the subject. And for those that ask how much the rent is…Are you paying his bills? That is up to Mega and/or his investors to deal with. Or better yet, are you gathering information to publish sell-thru or gross margin reports on his behalf? At the end of the day FASHION IS ART. Your time would be better spent doing something positive for your own community instead of knocking down his dream.

Congrats to Mega for pursuing his dream!

    Mega,

Collin from Clockwise here in DC… Fuck these haters. Black Scale is dope and this is a GREAT business decision… use this negative hypebeast hate to push you and your brand forward!!! keep it up homie!

  17. Posted by: Tha Real Sake1 on November 16, 2009 at 7:28 pm

yo…not for nothin whoever keeps postin on here callin themself SAKE1 that seat is reserved homie, and its on a flight goin somewhere you can’t afford. you are entitled to your opinions but i personally LIKE Black Scale and would appreciate if you use a different name on here so people don’t get confused.

SAKE1 (you can be SAKE2 if you want)

  18. Posted by: mega on November 16, 2009 at 7:21 pm

it will be simple for a very long time. we are selling 10 tees and 3 hats just to see if the market works out for us. i think we need more stuff but it will take a few years.

  19. Posted by: Brown Boy on November 16, 2009 at 5:32 pm

I yet to see something more original. Reminds me of the Brooklyn or Boston cap. Upside down flag reminds me of Chino XL. So many t-shirts our there and everyone is doing the same thing. Someone please step out of the box and go left field with the street wear. Make some bubble vest, different style jackets, snap back caps, wind breakers, and etc. I already seen the starter style, hoodies, and new era or fitted. Stand out from the others. New or recent cats coming to the fashion scene please and I say it once again come original. I agree with Sake1. Build your foundation first. If your ground isn’t stable, everything is gonna come tumbling down in the end. Not hating just words to live by……

Dope! Glad ure taking risks! BTW I’m excited for my new retaurant to open!! I just don’t have food and a menu to offer yet.

  21. Posted by: sake1 on November 16, 2009 at 3:47 pm

LOL….all this translates to me is poor business decisions.
you don’t need a store….get your shit in every high end street wear boutique in California before you go balls to the walls. This is a recipe for disaster.
I guarantee with their current stock of merchandise, lack of a firm position in the market, and with the economy, this store will NOT BE OPEN LONG!!!
I knew mega was unprofessional when he proceeded to respond to all the people criticizing him on the blvck scvle hypebeast threads. This just truly shows his inexperience in the fashion industry and poor judgement.
Its simple math and economics. You don’t have enough demand, and you don’t have enough supply. and besides that, i wonder how much rent is for that place anyway. It must be a fortune!!! I bet you could barely cover that rent even if i bought 1 of every garment in your store. Bottom line, this appears to be a very disorganized brand, and this was just a desperate attempt to get Black Scale out there as quickly as possible. good luck black scale. I suggest finding more lucrative ways of reaching your market.

  22. Posted by: vroom vroom on November 16, 2009 at 2:32 pm

even if they sold every item in the store every single day… how do you afford rent?

  30. Posted by: Dave on November 15, 2009 at 7:18 pm

are yall serious… this look like just another stussy with a B instead of an S. and that B ain’t even an original B, that shit looks like it was ripped from the Brooklyn minor league hats new era be sellin.

not hatin, hope yall are successful, but i just dun see the “hype”.

  31. Posted by: m45th on November 15, 2009 at 6:39 pm

big ups to mega for the opening. store does look pretty empty, but i think black scale will be able to grow into the space eventually, as soon as their offerings expand.

  32. Posted by: T.Banks on November 15, 2009 at 4:11 pm

I like the modern approach and that it’s an open space, but where are the clothes? It ain’t sh*t in there!!

  33. Posted by: r.t.v. on November 15, 2009 at 2:23 pm

Exactly my first impression upon seeing the pics, too much space. I understand the clean aesthetic and minimalist look, but you don’t want to store to end up looking like a gourmet dinner course with 1 pea in the middle of a 3′x3′ plate. Congrats though. Glad to see more stores like this in the Yay Area

    Hey Mega –

NICE SPACE, my friend…and I thought your temp spot in SF was clean and cutting…I’m looking forward to my next trip to Cali to see it all up close and personal now it’s done…especially the Black Powdered Black Scale Knights in Shining Armour. The Black Scale Knights Helmet added a SERIOUS Touch of Class to our SYNDICATED Clothing RU SYNDICATED celebration…The Jerzy side was diggin’ it, and most of the guys felt obliged to try the bad boy on…how do you stop YOUR guys from doing that?

Good luck in San Fran -

  37. Posted by: Helgen on November 15, 2009 at 8:36 am

They need to focus on getting more shit to sell, because I dont know how much money one expects to get when you sell 10% worth of space full of items in your store.

  39. Posted by: Yola on November 15, 2009 at 1:29 am

cool. the store looks very empty though. Even with a reason for the amount of space, still too much space. cool though.

  40. Posted by: Killerb602 on November 15, 2009 at 1:21 am

Another reason for me to move to SF….Nice job fellas…another of my “new” favorite brands…

  41. Posted by: retrospec on November 15, 2009 at 12:18 am

nice store and the plain look really emphasizes the merchandise, but it only works to an extent. too plain really takes away and hinders the customer shopping experience.

    Been waiting for this.
Will be hitting Frisco up in a month..
    Goodies look fucking vicious yo..
Especially the shades and the beanies

    On another note..
Are they going to be selling any Tenderloin Project goodies since they were involved in it?
Lemme know… I saw that Tenderloin Project vid where they were interviewing street cats that participated in the project and it got me interested.

    Peace!

Oh and international shipping or what

  53. Posted by: Ken on November 14, 2009 at 4:42 pm

Nice step for Black Scale to have a flagship store but the spot looks like there is not much to look at. I don’t think there will the that “wow” factor entering the store. Looks pretty boring and a failed attempt to look like a high end boutique.
