The store has an ill vibe. Watch it grow. Haters can keep the name in their mouths. You know you will all be wearing brands that bite Black Scale in the months to come. There is proof already that Black Scale is changing the game. Look at Rogue Status Spring 09, The Hundreds Varsity, Crooks and Castle’s Fedora….
Do some research. How can one say this brand is meaningless? I feel sorry for those who are too ignorant or afraid to even try to understand. One of the basic difficulties in our way of life today, is that the average person is afraid of the very concepts of growth, thoughtfulness, or reflection. They are afraid to use muscles that have seldom been used, because the moment they do, they develop mysterious aches and pains. When the average person to suddenly use their mind, they are going to develop intellectual stress and strain; they are going to ache mysteriously. Probably in this case, the aching will be a sense of inferiority that comes over them. When they are challenged to to contemplate upon some great philosophical principle, they are bewildered. I feel sorry for these people as you must suffer terrible letdowns in life because you are depending completely upon external circumstances because your mental-emotional consciousness cannot fulfill you.
Don’t let these emotions beat you though. Do yourself a favor and pick up a book to help you understand what this brand is about. If it gets one of you suckers to learn something one would say this brand is very meaningful.
another line built on hype with out the foundation of good design. somehow its great you’re hooriding on the huf-set success. but c’mon, IMO, its all same the same ol’ shit. if the store looks empty its not because its high end, it reflects the design of the line.
if you’re wondering why the product is overpriced, its because they gotta add hype tax to afford rent downtown.

and who the hell said anything about visual merchandising? having 1 of each garment out and personable sales associates in 2009 is a standard……i think everyone knows that. That doesn’t mean you open up a 1500+ sq ft. store with a Whopping 10 tshirts. i don’t need to pay mega’s bills to understand a sustainable business model, thank you. its obviously too late to for black scale to turn back now. all i can say is good luck.
Shop looks hella plain, this is just another brand to add to the overly saturated streetwear market. Half of their line looks like rips from the OG Crooks & Castles Illuminati line.

High end retailers? Dude, high end retailers dont stock new eras and tshirts. High end retailers steam or press their denim so the creases from being folded dont show. (ESPECIALLY when they know that shit is going to be photographed). High end retailers dont sell screen printed wifebeaters and try to claim “high end”.
I commend anyone going out on a limb to open up shop, particularly in this economy when you have to move $50 tshirts to get by. But I’m also ready to distribute the appropriate amount of hate juice when I see it being done so terribly wrong.
We also have a restaurant coming and we have 3 sandwiches and 3 types of soda. Hope it will work out too. Hate is good. Without hate the world would be boring. I criticize too so it’s dope that you have a voice, well typing skills at least.
Haters are the best motivators, so pursue your art and passion as you see best. To those that don’t understand the concept, have you ever been to a high-end retailer? Or heard of back stock? The minimal visual merchandising is presented as an art gallery so you can appreciate each piece for what it is. Not every size needs to be on the floor at the same! This idea allows for the focus to be on customer service and one-on-one selling, a concept that is pushed in high-end retail sales. As a former VP of Merchandising, I have the to experience and knowledge to speak on the subject. And for those that ask how much the rent is…Are you paying his bills? That is up to Mega and/or his investors to deal with. Or better yet, are you gathering information to publish sell-thru or gross margin reports on his behalf? At the end of the day FASHION IS ART. Your time would be better spent doing something positive for your own community instead of knocking down his dream.

Its simple math and economics. You don’t have enough demand, and you don’t have enough supply. and besides that, i wonder how much rent is for that place anyway. It must be a fortune!!! Exactly my first impression upon seeing the pics, too much space. I understand the clean aesthetic and minimalist look, but you don’t want to store to end up looking like a gourmet dinner course with 1 pea in the middle of a 3′x3′ plate. Congrats though.
