Lupe Fiasco – Solar Midnite

lupe solar midnite track 1 Lupe Fiasco Solar Midnite

Lupe Fiasco launches his first commercial release as a part of the New Moon Soundtrack. Though some might be skeptical about his involvement with the Twilight film franchise, Solar Midnite adds an edgy element to Lupe’s usual arrangements, further cementing the MC’s major creative talents.

“Solar Midnite is my first commercial release that I actually produced as well as wrote. The New Moon team asked me if I could do a song specifically for the film. They invited me to an early screening of the unfinished film from which I pulled different elements that I thought would translate into a great song. I pulled in vocalist and bassist Graham Burris and acclaimed musician Matt Nelson to help fill it out my vision musically and “joila” Solar Midnite was born. The song basically deals with the chaotic love story that takes place between the characters. It’s more on the rock side of my musical catalog and comes straight from my die hard fanhood of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Anthony Keidis, one of my FAVORITE RAPPERS.”

I mean seriously, don’t expect Lupe to deliver like this regularly. Lupe probably made the song like that to attract Twilight fans, not his normal fans. I understand him and I would do the same thing if I was in his position.

mmm this is going to get worse, last Lupe show I went to was over run with 14 year old girls. Methinks this trend will only grow.

I can def see this being an awesome song at a show. I know a lot of people will dislike it, because it’s NOT strictly RAP. Fans hate when you grown and venture out and get to know yourself. Yet this isn’t my favorite Lupe joint, but I do see his direction… would like to see if performed at a show.

    RESPECT.

I understand that it must be extremely frustrating being such a fucking dope emcee and not getting the recognition that you deserve [and this track by no means is bad]. But honestly??? Lupe x New Moon??? I never even took the time to even write those words together until now. I understand that homey is trying to transcend audiences but I don’t feel he should cater to them in order to do so. I mean look at [MF] DOOM, back in the day hella niggas thought he was corny, now everyone and they moms pissed themselves when they hear the words “MadVillain 2″. Idk, maybe i’m just tripping and acting like a paranoid fanboy who misses the old mixtape Lupe back in ‘05 and hopes he doesn’t for a lack of better words “fall off”… Thank god for FIRE though… I just read the lyrics not to long ago… JESUS!!!

looks like lupes really switching up his style with the last two tracks, fire, and this one, are more “rockstarish”.

I support. Respek for making new lanes. f & f up.
