Ben Davis has traditionally been known as a workwear brand with roots dating back to 1935. However rolling with the times, the brand has now given itself a contemporary make-over as the Japanese market has seemed to accept the well-backed brand in a more fashionable light. In a quick overview of some of the brand’s offerings, we see some more fashionable pieces beyond your usual utilitarian workwear aesthetic. This includes jackets, bottoms and hooded vests that share a common contrasting design. Available now at BENCH.

Dope!!!! Any american stockists? Ben Davis US has fallen off quality wise, so I’m glad to see this for the brand.

Ben Davis Japan is a class on its own. They are doing at street level what Junya Watanabe Man is doing at the couture level.
Junya’s problem being: Who needs a hunting jacket which is so tight in the shoulders you can barely move on it (and so damn expensive). Research and originality has its limit in performance, comfort and durability, want it or not.
Since both are taking their inspirations in trad english and american midcentury workwear clothing (which is by essence humble and solid clothing), Ben Davis jp is sticking to the concept better than its couture counterpart by being more straightforward, more wearable, more roots.

(Still loves the Harris tweed jkts by Junya though, but the visvims Harris/Goretex are a better bet if you can find one)
