Our weekly top picks featuring our selection of the best stories of the week. Check out the run-down after the jump.

Porter x eYe Junya Watanabe COMME des GARCONS

We see the return of Junya Watanabe and Porter on a sick jacket. The integration of Porter into a jacket might be a bit much for some yet the styling goes together well with Junya’s innovative and forward thinking aesthetic.

Creative Recreation “The Collection” 2009 Spring/Summer Footwear

Having seen little of interest from Creative Recreation in awhile, these are a good approach from Creative Rec to attack that luxury footwear market with some clean, high-quality offerings.

A Bathing Ape Gold Members 15th Anniversary Baby Milo Plush Toy

Something for the diehards, a massive plush Baby Milo for Bape’s 15th anniversary. I’ll never see this in real life but still a nice commemorative piece.

James Tobacks’ Tyson Documentary

Anytime a massive star rises, questions surround their inner workings and what makes them tick. Obviously Tyson is no exception to this rule and having seen his past record you’d be ignorant to not give the man some slack given some underlying mental and psychological problems. Having lost a $400 million USD fortune, sure it hurts but more importantly Tyson seems to be back in control of who he is. On a semi-related note, check out this documentary on the current reigning “The Baddest Man on the Planet”, MMA’s Fedor Emelianeko who seems to be night and day to Tyson’s previous demeanor.

Hysteric Glamour Trygod Diamond Jewelery Collection

Some next level baller stuff which is really inappropriate in times like these but still a nice piece of jewelery design. In my opinion, it manages to combine a large number of diamonds in a nice clean and not overly conspicuous collection.

Opening Ceremony x Pendleton

I’m looking forward to see the remixing of some classics on behalf of Opening Ceremony. I feel this whole trend of classic and traditional looks will inevitably go down a path of re-interpretation starting with something like this upcoming capsule.

Shofolk 2009 Spring/Summer Alaric

The Alaric seen here has a lot of the makings of a dope shoe. Nice materials and details with the leather laces, all capped off by a slick profile.

Converse by John Varvatos Metallic All Stars

John Varatos strikes gold and continues on with Converse’s untouchable All Star. The shoe’s distressed pewter-like finish is something yet to be seen without succumbing to the cheesiness that often associates with pre-distressed products.

White Mountaineering 2009 Spring/Summer “Eclectic Rambler” Collection

Quickly becoming a favorite for myself, White Mountaineering’s full 2009 spring/summer collection demonstrates a brand who have taken such a well-documented genre of mountaineering gear and successfully adapted it for a more casual and urban environment. As I’ve said before, the unassuming performance benefits they throw in by adding Gore-Tex to traditional style makes for a combo that makes perfect sense.

Martha Cooper “Street Shots” Exhibition

Martha Cooper’s photography is captivating to say the least and offers both artistic and educational elements with each of her projects.

Kanye West for Louis Vuitton Sneaker

The shoe pretty much everybody picked up on, Yeezy puts up something I think many can relate to. Haters will hate but the shoe itself straddles the line nicely between what you would expect from a high-fashion house but also from a more casual side of things. Kanye’s ability to mix up various styles effortlessly is a talent that we’ll see applied more and more with these high-powered collaborations.

colette x Visvim Folk Hockney

colette put together a special make-up of the fan-favorite Hockney. Having seen an initial glimpse from magazines of what’s on the horizon from Vis, could the more liberal use of color be something foreshadowed here and seen earlier with the new Serras?

13thWitness Website Update Featuring Jay-Z

While having an artistically gifted father helps, Timothy McGurr has no doubt carved out a niche of his own with his stunning photography skills and helping him land gigs with Nitro Microphone Underground and Jigga. For even more looks at his work, check out his Flickr.
