With the “Self-Portraits” Exhibition set to open on September 15th, we offer an exclusive closer look into the show by iconic Japanese artist Takashi Murakami at Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin in Paris. Amongst the highlights of the show, Murakami will be exhibiting a new series of self-portraits paintings along with various other pieces and the highly anticipated Kanye West Bear sculptures. “Self-Portraits” officially opens to the public on September 15th and runs through the 17th of October, 2009.

    It’s great that Murakami is giving Japanese (manga/anime) style art a good image, but I bet half the people don’t even give a damn about the Japanese comic book and animation culture. Most likely due to the negative or not-so-classy aspects: the fans, content etc..

    I’d like to see Mr.Murakami take a hand full of Japanese manga/anime artists and ask them to create something. Bring the underdogs unto the spot light for the whole world to see.
    That is if they’re willing to be open minded and ignore the high-class-ass society.
