Spare Paint Feature with Brian Barneclo on Walrus TV (Part 1)

by L.A. Ruano, September 14, 2009

Spare Paint is a two-part series that features San Francisco artists David Choong Lee and Brian Barneclo as they engage two homeless men panhandling the rush hour traffic. They offer their talents to paint new, visually striking cardboard signs. In Part One, we meet Joe, a Vietnam Veteran denied retirement benefits, as he shares his story of what it’s like to live on the streets and how he ended up there. Definitely one of more honest, thoughtful, and intriguing features from Upper Playground.

this was an amazing idea and very inspiring! if only everyone would do somn to help out those less fortunate. thanx for this video i agree with jack this really made my day. 29 years of this mans life just to be forgotten about and left on the streets to beg? im glad this man is filled with faith. its crazy to me how people who have everything seem to lack that, and those who dont have much acquire so much of it. i guess it only makes sense tho. im gonna keep that man in my prayers. 5*****’s

The artists doing this and Upper Playground aren’t doing crap but painting new signs for homeless people??? How about some practical help – give them some food, help them find some good shelter or some work. That man has a new sign but at the end of the day, he’s still on the street. This video and project are pointless.
