The Making of Blueprint 3’s Album Cover

by Alex Milner, September 16, 2009

This video shows the physical making and shooting of Jay-Z’s latest album cover for the final instalment of the Blueprint trilogy, Blueprint 3. The final image features a series of musical equipment in white, with three red stripes painted across. The sound track to the clip is of course off the album, in fact it’s the first single: ‘Run This Town’ which features Kanye West and Jay-Z discovered artist, Rhianna. The album is now available worldwide in both physical and digital format.

The reason why it looks so good is that it IS real. No way it would look that way if it was thrown up on a computer! Keep making stuff that is the same to the eye as it is in print. It isn’t easy but the end result is worth it and it shows.
I think they call it keeping it real don’t they!
Nice work DTB and all involved.

Jay-Z is NOT a real artist. He is just a rhythmic poet. Didn’t see him in this video at all. Highly doubt he had ANYTHING to do with the making of this cover or even the concept. Why aren’t any of these artists given credit? Why do people worship Jay-Z? Who are YOU?

Dosu you made me laugh really hard. He’s not giving props to the artists in D.O.A. he’s calling them out. He calls out the entire rap scene, listen to it again once or twice. And this cover ain’t mediocre it’s hot like Jay. Listen to the track with Jeezy. All you haters “stay clear of the real _ _ _ _ we doin’ ova here!”

    @ jace from omaha
i dont think Jay-Z is pop (”garbage” for those who dont know)
he still has the gift to rap
    its just
when you reach a height as far up as Jay
and you can take private plans around the corner to a store and s**t
what is there to rap about anymore?
Jay sees it as he has to help keep hip-hop alive
and by leaving it…like he was gonna do
would be like abandoning it…get it?

i enjoy the sculpture. I don’t get why he painted the lines. I just assumed it was a design element.

    excellent work.

    This is really cool.
I hope those instruments get auctioned off and the proceeds go to a music foundation.

What goes around comes around – even if you’re a giant; We all could use a little extra good blessings.

    Peace
