kanye west takashi murakami gold bear sculpture Kanye West x Takashi Murakami Gold Bear Sculpture

Having seen some of the most popular artists, heavily involved in the streetwear scene, exhibit at the Emmanuel Perrotin, makes you wonder what the famed collector might have in-store. Aside from the current showcase, at the gallery’s Paris location, is a collaboration sculpture, created between Kanye West and legendary super-flat artist Takashi Murakami. The piece follows the re-occuring Kanye bear theme, created in a gold sculpture. Stay tuned for further information regarding the sculpture.

Metal sculptures like this are first sculpted in clay then a mold is made then gold would be dropped in the mold and finally some other metal to hold it all up. so takashi probably did sculpt it.

    @ KanYe:
all big artists got a whole team which works for them. the artists just bring the idea and the money…

    @ lyme:
you shouldn’t think this way in the art scene… also if it’s obvious. you can’t just pay the material, you pay the idea aswell. you shouldn’t be mad at the artist, you should be mad at the buyer.

anyway… another bad artwork from Murakami. better than the pharrell collab, but still creepy.

So does Takashi Murakami sculpt it himself, or just get a factory to mold it?

Solid gold? at nearly 1,000 dollars an ounce and 16 ounces a pound I highly doubt this sculpture is solid gold… it looks like 3 (+) feet tall…
