Debate “who was first”……..Jose Parla is sick and wrote Ease back in the days…mad respect to him cause he has some dope styles but that dude didn’t come up until mid 90’s but JonOne is like NYC graffiti legend/pioneer featured in the famed book “Subway Art” back in 84 ?…..so way way way before Parla…so haters look up your fucking history before you talk shit!
The only reason Parla is more renowed an artist is he because branded himself better…..

JON ONE, KRINK, JOSE PARLA….This stuff is lame. just tagging on canvas with a juice marker, I’d rather see it on the streets. There is a million kids with better handstyles that really get up….graffiti whores.

Too bad Calc2 been rocking this style longer than Jose and jon one. I used to write with him back in the early 90’s when he developed it in Boston. I remeber him saying he thought Jose was doing it right because he didn’t act like some carnie wierdo. Paris is lame. So is jon one. Check calculaters work and you will see the starting point for all this kind of stuff. He’s still rocking trains somewhere. I still see them.

I see why people think of Jose Parla, but what separates Parla is his re-creation of the outside environment, the wall on the canvas. JonOne does not do that it is more pure abstraction. And if you want to make comparisons, Parla looks like Pollack just using a tag and markers instead of a drip technique.

To the guy who said this is not art…GO TO A MUSEUM ONCE IN A WHILE!

There’s a similar Artist in DC, by the name of Julian Barnes. He works in Architecture for Leo A Daly. Look him up on the website’s database.
