With swirling speculation about who would take the reigns since NIGO(R)’s stepping down from A Bathing Ape, a familiar personality in the realm of streetwear in WTAPS’ Tetsuya Nishiyama has officially been announced via NIGO(R) himself as the new design face of the brand. With his involvement coming to light in the winter collection, there also looks to be the development of a new line titled URSUS BAPE(R). With a well-documented aesthetic in WTAPS, we look forward to seeing the progression and different traits that A Bathing Ape will assume under TET-san.

AMERICA’S GOT OBAMA , AND NOW BAPE’S GOT TET.

IT’S TIME TO CHANGE BAPE, “YES, TET CAN!”

oh, yeah….i don’t mean that the quality itself is bad.

Tetsuya Nishimiya is not that bad of a designer but im sure you like Bape wear…you hate him taking over.

He’s plain and wont deliver that edge Bape always had.

At this rate, i might totally convert to Neighborhood or Ice Cream/BBC.

But really, don’t give it to him. or give the position to Pharrell or something.

ok, most of you guys dont even know what your talking about.

Have any of you even seen this kids designs?
    He’s basic and old.

Bape won’t have the clean and ‘huh’…when you see it anymore.

Those classic hoodies are gonna just be brown with poor quality.

And the shirts are just not gonna be the same anymore.

I hope they don’t hand 100% of the companies design job to him.

He directed only URSUS BAPE(R) line. Not every bape line.

this actually looks promising…hopefully we’ll get some of that old-school militaristic feel that wtaps and o.g. bape have, and less of these weird ideas that seem like they were designed on a whim (cow parka, camo overlaid with stars or plaid)

Let’s hope he can bring some innovation to the brand. Lately, there’s been a lot of repetition going on.
