Shepard Fairey & Kenny Scharf for Lance Armstrong’s Giro D’Italia Bikes
by Eugene Kan, May 5, 2009

Lance Armstrong has dabbled extensively into the art world beyond his cycling exploits with Shepard Fairey and Kenny Scharf, the latest contributors to the bikes soon to be ridden by Lance Armstrong. With one of Italy’s premier races taking place in the Giro D’Italia, the two bikes include an Italian architecture meets LIVESTRONG Foundation (Lance Armstrong’s humanitarian fund) aesthetic while the Kenny Scharf version is inspired by “Lightspeed” and Lance Armstrong ripping through the finish line. The Shepard Fairey Trek Madone will serve as Armstrong’s daily rider while the Trek TTX will be his competition ride. The bike will later be seen as part of the Nike Sportswear sponsored “Stages” exhibition.
