American photographer Richard Kern brings his brand of voyeuristic photography to a new exhibition being held at the Rental Gallery in New York City. The show will open on June 4th, running through July 5th, 2009. Be sure to check it out if you’re in town.

    Yeah, Kern is hack. He rode the wave of Transgressive Cinema in the eighties to notoriety and hangs onto it by shooting T&A for Vice. Whether or not his apparent hate for women is genuine, he hasn’t done anything new in the last twenty years. Fuck this guy.

    i love what this exhibition stands for, but I don’t like what the content is. After doing some quick research on the artist, I find that he’s been doing this kind of art for a while. i bet he would stand up for what his art is and is willing to risk it and go all out, as soon in his artwork. im currently an art student and ive had my art teachers refuse to put my art in an art show which was my class’s final show. ive spent the hours working on pieces and understand what it is like to get denied. i support his thoughts, but im just not a fan of his shit.

    he’s not even trying to mask his repressed hatred of woman anymore – handstanding into a toilet? shoots set up to imitate peeping on women going to the bathroom? fuckin creepy. its vogue to be “bad boy” and do lazy art a la terry, dash, etc, but, it’s getting a bit ridiculous to see streetwear stans jump all over this without really seeing how fucked up it is. no im not a woman, im a straight dude who’s stomach turned when i see how flagrant its getting with this over-the-top macho assertion BS.
