mos def neighborhood 2009 holiday photoshoot 1 Mos Def x NEIGHBORHOOD 2009 1st Ex. Series Holidays in the Sun

An unlikely representative of NEIGHBORHOOD’s 2009 1st Ex. Series “Holidays in the Sun” collection is none other than fan-favorite in American Hip-Hop artist Mos Def. Having seen the prolific lyricist dressed in diverse styles ranging from Visvim Folk FBTs to his own sub-collection with UNDRCRWN, the styling shots seen here include some seasonal highlights from NEIGHBORHOOD such as the APOCALYPSE . VE / E-JKT studded leather jacket in blue/black. Starks shoelaces in his Chucks as well?

Sad freaks man…age is merely a freakin’ number and it’s all in the mind and your level of confidence…I hold a senior position in a major financial institution (a very conservative industry i must say) and I still rock in NBHD, Visvims, CDG, Trickers, Yohji, Head Porter, Supreme, PAM etc etc…The gist of it is common sense and under what circumstances these street styles are worn…Street wear is the couture of the 21st century and even mainstream multi million dollar companies are looking to acquire these companies and are also looking towards them for inspiration…Check out DKNY and Gucci’s latest collections!!!! If you freaks are limited on lifestyle shut the f**k up and go back to your boring lives and rot there!!! Peace brothers…Keep on rockin’ in whatever that makes you feel greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat!!!

Real talk. I think Mos Def is on point esp. with the new album coming out and all you guys shouldnt be talking shit about him; its the fucking clothes that he was probably forced to wear is what sucks. Who ever said the fits look good obviously doesnt have style or just borrowed that shit from someone else’s mouth. If you say original, I say this shit is played. innovative; that shit is just plain terrible. The studded jacket looks like some kid with a bedazzler did that shit. Also, the Leapard print should be left behind in fashion’s past with all the all over print hoodies.

I’m just tired of shitty clothing companies trying to market a style that was in the past (this is obviously early 90s), be more innovative, create a style that people can actually wear and not something people will feel embarrassed about a couple months later; shit create classics.

pics are hella dope good look for mos and for ppl saying he needs to dress his age. thats weak because i bet you most dudes who rock more matured things such as suits and such have to because of their jobs and mos def on the other hand is a hip hop artists there is no dress code for that. stop thinking you have to do something a certain way based off age because society has given you an image of what a older man should dress like.

  8. Posted by: BKE420 on May 19, 2009 at 4:00 pm

For all you punkassbitches that think age has anything to do with style…your fucked up. I’m 46 years old…(married, 3 kids…one of which is our 14 son..who collects J’s with me) Age is just a number..it’s how you fucking feel inside. Like what you buy and buy what you like or just be a follower.

I’ve been into clothes for a longass time. If you buy into the age thing you’re fucked.

Props to Grail…”don’t let age dictate how you live.” sorry for getting off point in this post.

  9. Posted by: Grail on May 19, 2009 at 2:50 pm

Mos can dress however…And still be cooler than you. Don’t let age dictate how you live. Ya’ll can grow up and follow the herd like man designed. Some will live it exactly how they want to.

  10. Posted by: d-19 on May 19, 2009 at 12:36 pm

“clean it up”? oh my god you’re delusional. you can clean it up if you want but mos has style and rocks this shit way hard. he is always keepin it real.

JoseMP- you don’t know what you’re talking about…

  11. Posted by: EGA on May 19, 2009 at 8:57 am

    Holly shit…

Mos def is unlikely any other hip hop artist.
Because He dosen’t choose what the field is.
He cross over all the time. Like America, Like Japan,
Like He’s not enough like his caree yet.
I would like to be his own motivation to burn the hip hop style.

  12. Posted by: Viva on May 19, 2009 at 1:39 am

But I mean Mos can do that…but I mean someone like Jay-Z, would feel like a clown in these clothes. When you get older, you just clean it up.

  13. Posted by: Viva on May 19, 2009 at 1:38 am

“Why would you change your style cause you get older?”

..Because you were supposed to have matured in mind, and should not be dressing like all the 16 year olds in your kid’s school?

  14. Posted by: car bomb on May 19, 2009 at 1:22 am

Playing your role and knowing who you are is way more important than bullshit like “dressing your age”. No one hates on what George Clinton rocks and that dude is old as hell. Likewise, Mos Def can pull this off because he raps, acts, and (apparently) models expensive threads for a living. He’s a part of street culture and it’s perfectly legit for him to dress as such. It’s not the same as say, a 40 year-old middle manager wearing NBHD.

  15. Posted by: gripholla on May 19, 2009 at 12:02 am

when you got fortune and fame.. you can rock some weirdness and people will grip you

  16. Posted by: JoseMP on May 18, 2009 at 9:30 pm

    Fucking Sell Outs
Mos Def dun’t know shit bout NEIGHBORHOOD

  17. Posted by: SWIFT on May 18, 2009 at 7:31 pm

clean shit that nigga looks like hed be hella chill

  18. Posted by: Bez on May 18, 2009 at 7:05 pm

The fact that the pioneers of street wear age are not immortal does not make it appropriate for 40 year old people to wear street clothes intended for a new generation. Dress to your style and age and especially the occasion.

  19. Posted by: UrbanGlowCam on May 18, 2009 at 5:00 pm

Why not ask him for a picture?

  20. Posted by: lowrell on May 18, 2009 at 4:14 pm

to the dude saying people who are 40 shouldnt dress street, may I remind it was the likes of 40 year old men who are the helm of all the “street” wear as you so weakly put it. Hiroshi Fujiwara, James Jebbia, Shawn Stussy, Fraser Cook, Eric Brunetti etc, so before you open your obviously limited mouth, think about what you’re saying, yooot.

starks laces or not, y is he wearing mis-matched chucks?

  36. Posted by: TREVERIN on May 18, 2009 at 7:45 am

The starks laces in chucks actually looks pretty dope. I like how Mos can switch up styles on the regular and keep it diverse. It’s definitely a good look for him.
